What is Reiki And How Will It Help Me?

Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing practice used for centuries to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Its origins can be traced back to the early 20th century when Mikao Usui, a Japanese monk, developed the practice to heal himself and others. Since then, Reiki has become a popular complementary therapy and is now practiced in many parts of the world.

The History of Reiki


Reiki is believed to have originated in Japan in the early 20th century. The founder of Reiki, Mikao Usui, was a Japanese monk who developed the practice after many years of studying ancient texts and teachings. According to legend, Usui was inspired to develop Reiki after fasting and meditating on a mountain for 21 days.

Usui's teachings were passed down to his students, who in turn passed them down to their own students. One of Usui's most famous students was Hawayo Takata, who introduced Reiki to the Western world in the 1930s.




Understanding Reiki


Reiki is a holistic healing practice that works with the energy that flows through all living things. The practice is based on the idea that when this energy is flowing freely, we experience good health, vitality, and well-being. However, when this energy is blocked or stagnant, we may experience physical or emotional pain and illness.

Reiki works by using the hands to channel this energy and direct it to the areas of the body that need healing. During a Reiki session, the practitioner places their hands on or near the client's body, working to balance and restore the energy flow.

Reiki is also divided into different levels, each with its own set of teachings and practices. The first level of Reiki focuses on self-healing, while the higher levels focus on working with others and teaching Reiki to others.

The practitioner may use different hand positions to work on different areas of the body, and the session may last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.

During a Reiki session, the client may experience a variety of sensations, including warmth, tingling, or a feeling of deep relaxation. Some people may even fall asleep during the session.
